Grief

What a complicated feeling.

It makes you feel an array of emotions.

The waves of sadness come and go.

As if they are crashing in and out on the shore.

The nostalgia of memories lingers in the air.

Like the smell of blueberry pancakes on a Sunday morning.

The remembrance of their warmth and security.

And reminiscing in their love.

They never seem to leave though,

It’s like they stay alive in your head.

Your memories together slowly fade with age

But the love they left you with lasts forever.

When the waves finally stop crashing,

Closure seeps in.

It melts like honey over your broken heart.

The knowing that one day you will see them again.

You are finally able to realize this isn’t a goodbye but a chow for now.
